Iraq destination guide
Baghdad Ziyarat: Kadhimiya and places to discuss with your guide
For a Shia Ziyarat visit to Baghdad, start with Al-Kadhimain Holy Shrine in Kadhimiya, the district also called Kazmain on this website. Other Baghdad stops and a separate excursion to Salman Pak should be agreed with your guide; they are not automatically included in every Iraq itinerary.

Are Baghdad, Kazmain and Kadhimiya different destinations?
Baghdad is the city; Kadhimiya is the district containing the shared shrine of Imam Musa al-Kadhim (A.S.) and Imam Muhammad al-Jawad (A.S.). Kazmain and Kadhimain are spellings you may encounter for the same shrine destination. When comparing itineraries, ask for the actual hotel and shrine locations rather than counting these names as separate cities.

A focused Baghdad Ziyarat list
- Al-Kadhimain Holy Shrine — Ziyarat of Imam Musa al-Kadhim (A.S.) and Imam Muhammad al-Jawad (A.S.) at one shrine complex in Kadhimiya.
- Buratha Mosque — included in devotional resources for the Baghdad area; ask your guide about its place in your route.
- Sites associated with the four deputies of Imam Mahdi (A.T.F.S.) — devotional resources identify these Baghdad visits. Discuss the exact locations and local guidance required.
- Salman Pak / al-Mada'in — a separate excursion outside central Baghdad, associated with Salman al-Farsi and other devotional visits. Do not assume it is covered by a Kazmain hotel stay.
This is a selected planning list, not an exhaustive inventory or a statement that all sites are included. The shrine identities are documented by shrine sources; the wider devotional associations are attributed to the linked Duas.org resource. Ask your religious guide to explain the traditions and appropriate readings.

Keep Baghdad, Samarra and airport transfers distinct
Our published Iraq itinerary includes a Kazmain stay and a day trip to Samarra. Samarra is a separate destination, not another name for a Baghdad shrine. Arrival at Baghdad Airport also does not by itself mean your programme includes a Baghdad sightseeing or Ziyarat day.
Send the team your arrival and departure details, then request a schedule showing pickup, hotel check-in, shrine visits and onward transfers separately. For a short stay, identify the visits that matter most to your group. Avoid treating an airport connection as free time for extra stops.
Questions for a Baghdad or Kazmain quotation
- Which nights are in Kazmain, and which visits are on transfer days?
- What is the proposed hotel, room sharing arrangement and route to the shrine entrance?
- Are Buratha, the deputies' sites or Salman Pak specifically included, optional or outside the programme?
- Where will the guide meet us, and what language will the guided programme use?
- If the programme changes, how will the team communicate the revised stops and transfers?
Hotel details and any optional additions are shared through WhatsApp. Request an itemised written quotation so a proposed extra visit is not mistaken for a confirmed inclusion. The starting prices on the package pages should be read alongside the final dates, occupancy and agreed services.
Find the readings for your shrine visit
Use the reading library to prepare the Ziyarat texts separately from your travel planning. Saving the relevant pages before departure helps you find the right reading without searching through a long itinerary. Ask your group's religious guide if you need help choosing a text.
Common planning questions
Does every Iraq package include Salman Pak?
Do not assume so. The existing Iraq itinerary lists its main stops; ask whether Salman Pak can be included in your specific programme and request any additional arrangements and price in writing.
Can I join the group at Baghdad Airport?
The existing Iraq page describes airport pickup options. Share your flight details with the team and confirm the agreed pickup location, arrival time and transfer in your quotation before booking independently.
